DSSTR SHOWCASE VOL1: DEAD IN THE DIRT

After many times we made an events, this is the first time we make event that will regularly held. We named this event DSSTR Showcase vol.1. This time, we had a chance to invite Dead In The Dirt, Vegan Straightedge Grindcore band from Georgia Atlanta USA. Band which sheltered by Southernlord record was once had a show in Medan and Jakarta first. There were some problems when we planned this event, we had some difficulties from finding the place and the licensing which hard to achieve from the Police. Fortunately, we have some relatives and some supportive bands who helped us to make this show went on. We picked this band from Jakarta, after they done performing there. After we arrived in Bandung, we drove them to get some rest in guest house, and the next day when the event was held, we picked them up from the guest house and took them to ate while our other friends prepared the event on the spot. When we were on our way, we were called and told to not to come straight to the spot, because there were some cops who wanted to stop the event because of the licensing that hasn’t done. Because it has been awhile we drove around the roads and the personnel of the band wanted to drink coffee, we brave ourselves to came to the venue, we arrived there at two o’clock and there were some damaged in the electricity.

At first we planned the event would be held at 12.00 but because of the police who wanted to stop the gigs can negotiated with us, and the deal with the cops is we can still held the event but at 18.00 it has to end. We started early than we planned, we started at 14.30. Sadly, we had to canceled 2 bands that would also perform on that event, they are ALICE and New Years Party Terror.

The show was opened by a stoner/doom band from Jakarta, Matiasu. Even tho the venue hasn’t fulled because of the changing run down, the band played pretty cool! the heavy sound and the echo made the atmosphere tensed.

The second band was Ayperos, a band from Bandung. This band played crusty black metal intensely! fast and hard.

The third band finally performed, it was Deadly Weapon, this Grindcore band came from Jogjakarta made the gigs tumultuous, moshpit became full of crowd and the boys started moshing.

Fourth band was Wicked Suffer. Band HC/punk is from Jogjakarta, they were pretty famous about their chaos act in every performance. The moshpit arena was getting more wilder, and one of the audience broke his teeth because of collide with his friend but ended by laughing together. We could hear the audience sang along and asked encore.

And finnally, DITD. the most waited band came up to the stage. Without too much talk, they played their wicked tracks. Almost every song from “The blind hole” album they played, and there were a new song that they haven’t played before, was played in this event. We were so excited even this event didn’t went smoothly as we planned. After that, we went to eat and get some rest.
